Download the PNG, put it on a light background with clear space around it, and print it at least 2 cm across for cards and 5 cm for signs. What format should a Canadian phone number be in for a WhatsApp link?
Country code 1 followed by your 10-digit number with no spaces, brackets or dashes, so (437) 555-0123 becomes wa.me/14375550123. Type the number the way you usually write it; this tool strips the punctuation and adds the 1. Do not type the 1 yourself or the link will have an extra digit and WhatsApp will reject it.
Should I use WhatsApp Business or my personal WhatsApp for a Canadian business?
The link works with either and the format is identical. The free WhatsApp Business app adds a business profile with your hours, address and website, a catalogue, and automatic greeting and away messages, which is what most shops, trades and clinics want. It needs its own number, so many owners put it on a second SIM or on a landline verified by phone call, and keep their personal WhatsApp separate.
What is a wa.me link?
It is WhatsApp's official click-to-chat link. It looks like wa.me/14375550123 and opens a chat with that number in the WhatsApp app, or in WhatsApp Web on a computer.
Does the customer need to save my number first?
No. Tapping the link or scanning the code opens the chat directly. Your business name and profile photo appear once you reply.
Can I use this with WhatsApp Business?
Yes. The link format is the same for WhatsApp Business and regular WhatsApp. If you use WhatsApp Business, you can also set a greeting message that sends automatically when a new customer writes.
How do I add the link to Instagram or my Google Business Profile?
Copy the link, then paste it into the website field of your Instagram bio or as a button link in your Google Business Profile. On your own website, use it as the address of a "Chat on WhatsApp" button.
Does the QR code expire?
No. The code only contains the link, so it keeps working for as long as that number is on WhatsApp. If you change your number, generate and print a new code.
