How do I write an Australian mobile number in a WhatsApp link?
Drop the leading 0 and add 61: 0412 345 678 becomes wa.me/61412345678. Type it with the 0 and spaces if that is how you write it; the tool removes them. Landlines work the same way, so (02) 9123 4567 becomes 61291234567.
WhatsApp Business or personal WhatsApp for an Australian business?
The link is the same for both. The free WhatsApp Business app adds a business profile with hours, address and website, a catalogue and automatic greeting and away messages, and it can be registered on a landline by phone-call verification. If you reply from a personal account, customers see your personal name and photo, so most tradies and small shops run a separate Business account on a second number.
What is a wa.me link?
It is WhatsApp's official click-to-chat link. It looks like wa.me/14375550123 and opens a chat with that number in the WhatsApp app, or in WhatsApp Web on a computer.
Does the customer need to save my number first?
No. Tapping the link or scanning the code opens the chat directly. Your business name and profile photo appear once you reply.
Can I use this with WhatsApp Business?
Yes. The link format is the same for WhatsApp Business and regular WhatsApp. If you use WhatsApp Business, you can also set a greeting message that sends automatically when a new customer writes.
How do I add the link to Instagram or my Google Business Profile?
Copy the link, then paste it into the website field of your Instagram bio or as a button link in your Google Business Profile. On your own website, use it as the address of a "Chat on WhatsApp" button.
Does the QR code expire?
No. The code only contains the link, so it keeps working for as long as that number is on WhatsApp. If you change your number, generate and print a new code.
