Website speed and SEO check

Speed, SEO and security scores for any site, with what to fix first. Free, nothing stored.

Works for any public website, anywhere.

Fetched once by our server. Nothing stored.

How the check works

Our server fetches the address once, like a first-time visitor, and runs twenty checks on the response: timing, size, headers and the HTML itself.

Each group scores out of 100. The headline is the lowest score, because that is where to start. Green passed, yellow is worth a look, red costs you visitors or ranking.

It is a read of the page as sent, not a full browser test. For rendering problems use Google's Lighthouse at pagespeed.web.dev.

Common questions

What is a good score?

90 to 100 is good, 50 to 89 has room to improve and under 50 means visitors are probably noticing. Most small-business sites on page builders pass the SEO basics but land in the middle on speed, usually because of too many scripts or no caching. Fix the failed checks at the top of the list first.

Is this the same as Google's PageSpeed Insights?

No. Google's tool loads the page in a simulated phone browser and measures how it draws on screen. This check fetches the page once from our server and looks at the response: timing, size, headers and the HTML itself. It is faster and has no quota, but it cannot see rendering problems. For the full Lighthouse report, open pagespeed.web.dev and enter the same address.

Why is my speed score low when the site feels fast to me?

The speed group counts what slows a first-time visitor on a phone: a slow first byte, uncompressed text, no caching headers and a long list of scripts. On your own computer the site is already cached and on a fast connection, so it feels quick. A new visitor downloads everything from scratch.

Why do the scores change each time I run it?

The timing checks (server response and download time) are measured live, so a busy server or network gives a different number each run. The SEO and security checks only change when the page changes. A swing of a few points on speed is normal; run it twice and look at the better of the two.

Does page speed affect my Google ranking?

Yes, but modestly. Google uses real-visitor speed data (Core Web Vitals) as one ranking signal among many. Content, links and a page that answers the search matter more, but a slow site loses visitors before ranking even matters.

Do you store the website address I check?

The address you enter is fetched once by our server to run the checks and the result is sent back to your browser; nothing else is stored. The only thing that leaves this page afterwards is a message you choose to send us from the results.

Want these fixed?

Send us the results. We go through the list, tell you what is worth fixing and what is not, and quote it in writing.
